See Yourself in 2024: Vision Boards

In an age of “New Year, New Me”, what’s better than starting with an empty canvas?

Something about seeing your most ideal self on a piece of poster-board sets the scene for the new year.

Although it may not seem like much more than a craft, creating a vision board could transform your year ahead, one day at a time. A vision board is an individualized collage of neatly scattered images, quotes, and representations of goals to envision the year ahead. Sitting down and crafting a vision board for the upcoming year is an activity for anyone who considers their lives to be a product of manifestation- an outlet for dreams to turn into reality. Successful manifestation requires intentional and active steps toward your goals. It is visual, intentional, and if done correctly, could be the verdict in the case for the law of attraction.

Setting unrealistic expectations for yourself can be difficult to keep up with, instead its better to start slow. Even therapists believe  New Year's resolutions are becoming less effective. Some say it's because of extraordinary expectations, but 43% of people quit before the end of January, proving that not all resolutions are successful.

But why are resolutions not working? The answer is clear, consistency. New Year's resolutions cannot make a difference if you do not stay consistent.

First, know which expectations for yourself are unrealistic or unattainable. In order to keep up with your goals, start by setting realistic standards for yourself that you know you will be able to keep up with- even during the busy seasons.

Although, we understand it can be difficult to form a habit. Just remember, the most important aspect to keep going is to not give up after you fail. Achieving your goals can take time, and scheduling time for your self-improvement can be daunting.

If only there was a way to wake up with an unwavering motivation every morning. An insightful period of self-reflection displayed on paper could be your answer. Vision boards seem to be a trending practice for a year-long solution.

The science behind vision boards is a discipline in itself which involves many manifestation techniques to determine its effectiveness. Similar traits apply if you think about the frequency and usefulness of a to-do list. These involve visualization, repetition, and positivity.

According to The Manifestation Clinic, Neuroscientist Dr.Tara Swart explains: "Looking at images on a vision board primes the brain to grasp opportunities that may otherwise go unnoticed. That’s because the brain has a process called ‘value-tagging,’ which imprints important things onto your subconscious and filters out unnecessary information.”

Simply visualizing your aspirations can make them come to life and a bit closer to reality. Swart explains that using an action board regularly can increase your willingness to achieve your goals. There is sheer motivation even in the simple process of creating the board. Hand-picking a mood board, deliberately scheduled for the next twelve months, has been proven to be effective, plus a cute poster for your wall.

Creating this positive space may require a day's work. However, this “crafternoon” has no rules. There are no guidelines, no rules, just a good pair of scissors. The only rule is to make it your own, a celebration of your potential in 2024. It's your time to be selfish for your happiness, turning an empty poster board into a source of your daily inspiration. Whether that may be celebrity crushes, travel spots, or long-term career goals, that's neither here nor there; your motivation is your motivation.

If you're thinking about embarking on this self-help journey, there might be some helpful tips: Consider what means most to you. Think about who you want to become and what you daydream about. Also, your access to magazines. And lots of them.
